Corvette Slams Into Taqueria Restaurant

A 1966 Corvette Stingray slammed into the main entrance of a local Taqueria on Wednesday during lunch hour.

The driver told authorities that the throttle or accelerator got stuck as he was pulling in, sending the vehicle a foot inside the restaurant entrance. The accident happened at 1:00 p.m. on Ayers Street across from Del Mar College.

The main entrance remains out-of-service; however, customers are able to enter via a second doorway for the time being.

According to officers, the driver recently had back surgery so he was transported to the hospital to be examined. No one else was injured, although customers were frightened by the loud noise and flying glass.

Repairs can be made to the building, however, that may not be the case for the Corvette…
