A San Marcos woman, 51, was killed in a car accident on Wednesday after running a stop sign. The woman died at the scene of the crash located at FM 1979 and State Highway 123, according to Texas Department of Safety.

Hays County and San Marcos Paramedics attempted to treat her at the scene, but it was too late, the injuries she sustained were too serious. She was pronounced dead at 3:20 p.m. by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace.

The accident occurred when the woman, traveling west on FM 197, ran a stop sign and pulled her vehicle onto State Highway 123 in front of a Chevy pickup truck driven by a Taylor, Texas man. The pickup struck the car on the passenger side door, demolishing both vehicles.

The driver of the picking and a passenger in his vehicle were both transported to Austin’s Brackenridge Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released. No citations were expected.
