Nintendo announced a voluntary recall of thousands of character-themed lapel pins because they contain high levels of lead. The recalled pins were made in China and distributed by Pro Source Inc.

The pins were only sold at the Nintendo “Fun and Games” employee store in Redmond and at the Nintendo World Store in New York City between April 2004 and November 2007. The pins were also distributed to employees at electronics and games stores nationwide during the same dates.

The recalled pins include popular gaming characters such as Donkey Kong, Mario, Pkachu, Princess Peach, Samus, Starfox, Wario, Mario Kart and others.

No illnesses have been reported. Consumers are advised to stop wearing the recalled pins immediately and to contact Nintendo to receive a free replacement pin. For more information, Nintendo can be reached at (800) 431-0971.
