TCB Imports, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of 3,000 Toy Police Cars because the toys contain excessive levels of lead, in violation of the federal lead paint standard.

To date, the company has not received any reports of injury.

The toy recall includes toy police cars with item number TF820 that can be found on the toy packaging.

Consumers are advised to immediately take the toy away from children and return it to the store of purchase for a full refund.

By February 10, 2009 all children’s toys and products must meet new, stricter lead standards no matter when the products were made, according to a newly released legal opinion by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The new decision goes into effect AFTER Christmas and won’t affect toys on sale for the holiday shopping season. In the meantime parents can get a lead test kit to ensure their children are playing with safe toys and products.
