Judge Suing City for Slip and Fall at Courthouse

A Brooklynn judge is planning to file a $1 million slip-and-fall lawsuit against the city after he fell on a just-mopped floor on his own courthouse.

The judge, who hears civil cases – is even going after the courthouse cleaning lady who mopped the floors, according to legal papers.

The slip-and-fall occurred on November 9, 2007. The judge suffered a fractured knee and was forced to undergo surgery and physical therapy.

In his Jan. 31 notice of claim, he accuses the city of "negligently using a mop bucket and wringer" and "negligently using a mop and soapy water" to create a "dangerous and hazardous traplike condition."
